An eighth of an inch isn't bad, at all. Foundations are reinforced with steel rebar and are designed to 'flex' with soil settling and earthquakes.Read the fine print on your guarantee for concrete work:1) It WILL crack.2) No one will steal it.

I see your problem- you've got a car parked in your garage! I know, it's not funny; warranty booklets just usually have something silly about not placing anything "heavy" on the foundation. Which might even include the house.Concrete will form cracks over time with curing and settling, but these aren't hairline and it's a only a 2-year-old home. My understanding is that foundations properly engineered for the soil conditions don't exhibit these characteristics in such a short amount of time.

The problem is there is no expansion joints in the floor. Floors or slabs will crack but if expansion joints are installed they will crack there and those can be filled with concrete caulk.

i have minor cracks in mine, but mine has finished curing, as it is much older, so i plan to degrease it and either tile it or put down an epoxy. I never liked plain concrete anyway.

Contacted builder several times, they indicate this is within tolerance and cracking is normal for post tension slabs.

We have the same problem in our new home. The whole lower level(garage, finished basement) is cracking/heaving. Contractor says "it's NORMAL" yeah right!! Try contacting the builders insurance company. Ours was bad engough they filed a claim with their ins. Good Luck!!

any updates?maybe have the builder re-do that area with double re-bar lattice if they didnt' do it already.

Where is this happening? Is it also in Huttoparke, Hutto, TX? You are having same kind of problems we are having!
